Terrigal V Central Wyong
The FUNNELL SMASH
REPAIR Sharks travelled to Watanobbi to play Central Wyong
on the weekend and came away with three solid wins although the
scorelines didnt reflect the intensity of the matches.
The DCL Construction Under 17's had
the bye but a solid effort was put in by some of the parents at
Leba's party on Sunday at the Skillion. Coach Moltz again took
the three points with a solid display of drinking culminating in
a wrestling extravaganza at the Country Club, Ingrid T played a
blinder and put it all over Bill, while Jim M forgot about surf
club duties for a while and claimed the the one point with a
ferocious display of mini pie eating.
The DCL Construction Sharks Under
19’s won a very scrappy match 48-12 to keep them selves in a key
position on the table. The Sharks started the game well but some
poor handling errors let them down. In short periods the side
played some rather impressive football which assisted in the one
sided score line. Haydn Scott played his best game of the season
with outstanding defence, as captain Haydn is a player the whole
team can look up to, they will soon be calling him the
Godfather. Other outstanding performances were had by Laurie
Slatter (1 try) , Adam Ridge, Shaun Sullivan (1 try) and Tim
Moltzen (2 tries) while our goalkickers Gus Moltzen and Matt
Sopp kicked eight from eight. On a serious note, Buddha and Hoff
want everyone out there sporting a short rod to step forward and
not feel ashamed. They are the founders of the Short Rod Club
and would like any interested member to email them at
shortrodclub@yahoo.com.au.
.
The DCL Construction Sharks Reserve
grade game was played in two halves. In the first half the
Terrigal reserves showed some real attacking ability, racing to
a 22-0 halftime scoreline with some great line breaks both
through the middle and on the fringes out wide. Pat McGrath
producing a scary run, showcasing size and speed for a 50m try
but he thinks it was more like 70m. Adam Harlow was at his hole
running best (scoring two tries) and Hoggy showed that like a
"fine wine" he only gets better with age. The second half was a
completely different performance, going away from the game plan
and trying to play touch footy lead to a very scrapy
performance. More committment to training and attention to the
game plan would see this side almost unstoppable. Daniel doohan
got the one point, Corey Thomas got the two points and continues
to improve while Adam Harlow after finally finding out
there is nothing in his head received the threes and players
player award.
The Spackman Auto Centre first grade
Sharks scored a comprehensive win in the end by 50-22. Central
Wyong came out running on all cylinders but after the Sharks
continually turning the ball over in the 1st half the boys
lifted their defence and worked well for their tries in the
second half to run out comfortable winners. After yet another
disruptive preparation with training being off due to weather on
Wednesday and only 10 players turning up to Friday nights
session the boys started flat footed and it took until 10
minutes after half time before they clicked into gear. Ryan
Briggs led the way from the front throughout the game and is
starting to get back into form and fitness. Troy McMurray scored
a hat-trick and showed how much he has been missed through
injury since the second game of the year. Other players to
impress were Michael Geercke who moved into the back row and
also Andrew McIvor caused plenty of headaches out wide every
time he touched the ball.Gavin French scored another eighteen
points and will crack the ton in his next match while Chris
Simpson scored another two tries. Credit must go to Central
Wyong for the continued effort throughout the game
